C7 is 7.2L engine introduced late 2003 to meet EPA2003 requirements. It typically has a black valve cover with ACERT (Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology) branding, and a 120 pin ECM. It was updated for EPA2007 requirements by adding a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and using a common-rail fuel system.
